MANKWENG – A 47-year-old man appeared before the Mankweng magistrate’s court on Friday, after he was arrested last Thursday for allegedly growing dagga.

The man was granted R1 000 bail and the case was postponed to May 27.

According to Mankweng police spokesperson, Const Matimba Maluleke, the estimated street value of the dagga was R10 000.

Maluleke said the police received a tip from the community and immediately reacted on the information, which led to the man’s arrest.

“We want to applaud the community for its continuous partnership in fighting crime. We appeal to the community to continue reporting illegal activities and encourage the community to get involved with the community police forum and street committees,” Maluleke said.
