City’s municipal manager suspended
The Polokwane municipal manager has been suspended pending an investigation into undisclosed allegations, the municipality said on Sunday.
POLOKWANE – A closed special sitting of the city council convened on Friday placed the municipal manager, Conny Mametja, under precautionary suspension for 90 days.
Accordiing to Tidimalo Chuene, spokesperson for the municipality, an independent investigator would be appointed to investigate allegations against Mametja within a pre-determined period.
“A special meeting of council will be convened afterwards to consider and make a pronouncement on the investigator’s report. The allegations against the municipal manager cannot not be divulged at the moment as this might jeopardise some aspects of the investigation,” Chuene said.
Ndavhe Ramakuela, the current director for community development, will act as municipal manager for the time being.
