Man arrested after alleged high-speed chase on N1 near Polokwane
Traffic officers tracked the vehicle across multiple roads before bringing the pursuit to an end in the Sekhukhune District.
POLOKWANE – A 28-year-old man was arrested after allegedly leading traffic officers on a high-speed chase after failing to stop for traffic officers on the N1 near Polokwane.
According to Limpopo traffic authorities, officers were conducting a routine speed enforcement operation near Mekete Lodge when a Volkswagen Polo was detected travelling at 139km/h in a 100km/h zone.
Authorities allege that the driver failed to stop when instructed to do so, prompting a pursuit involving members of the N1 Highway Brigade and the Polokwane Traffic Control Centre.
The vehicle was eventually stopped on the D4100 road near Ga-Malope village in the Sekhukhune District.
The driver was arrested and handed over to the Polokwane Police Station, where he is expected to face charges relating to the incident.
Police investigations are continuing.
