Tablers’ clubhouse a target

The Round Table Impala 157 and Round Table 22 suffered a great loss when they discovered their clubhouse had been trashed and vandalised last Friday.

POLOKWANE – The Round Table Impala 157 and Round Table 22 suffered a great loss when they discovered their clubhouse had been trashed and vandalised last Friday.

“Thieves broke in a few months ago and stole cables and pipes. We struggled with the insurance for them to pay out the money so that we could fix the place, but to date nothing has been done,” Round Table Impala 157 chairman, Donovan Snyman said last Friday.

“Two of the members decided to each give R30 000 so long to get the place fixed up, so when the plumbers and the people fixing the cables got here this morning (last Friday), the place looked like this.” He said there had been somebody at the clubhouse every Monday and the vandalism took place between last Monday night and last Friday morning.

All of their clothes that they used for fundraising concerts were strewn outside the clubhouse, the geyser lay on the ground and the men’s toilets were torn from the walls.

Everywhere inside the clubhouse there were signs of fires having been made and the compressors of the fridges had been ripped out. The roof had been damaged and a board full of photos and memories from long ago had also been vandalised.

The Round Table is a non-profit organisation that meets once a week to discuss how to help the community where there is a need.

“The insurance is now helping a lot and we would like to thank André van Tonder and Nico Koster for their help. Snyman said on Tuesday.

“We are always willing to give back to the community. Now we need its help,” Snyman said on Tuesday.

Snyman can be contacted at 072 148 4140.

Polokwane police spokesperson, WO Lesiba Ramoshaba, said the police were investigating a case of housebreaking and no arrests had been made as yet. Anyone with information can contact their nearest police station.
