All-new C-4 Cactus beams with some creative technology

The motoring industry is evolving daily and at quite a rapid pace, and new on the fore front of innovative technology is the new Citroën C4 Cactus.

POLOKWANE – The motoring industry is evolving daily and at quite a rapid pace, and new on the fore front of innovative technology is the new Citroën C4 Cactus.

Review test drove the Cactus Shine 1.2 puretech turbo e-THP 81kw Shine courtesy of MGM Motors Polokwane.

“The C4 Cactus is incredibly safe, it is almost like an armored egg shell. There are airbags for the driver and front passenger, front lateral, side curtains and even in the roof in the event the car rolls over on its roof,” says Richmond Sinthumule, a sales executive at MGM Motors.

One of the highlights of innovation on the C4 Cactus model range is the black strips around the outside, which Citroën calls airbump’s. Effetively, they help to protect the bodywork and may cause less injury to pedestrians.

During the test drive, Review was impressed by the positive feel of the electronic power steering wheel with various east to reach controls, the clutch pedal for the short shifting five-speed manual gearbox and the affectiveness of the ABS assisted brakes.

Other impressive factors were the snug sporty cloth seats, which are also height adjustable.

The 81kW three-cylinder turbocharged engine is a surprisingly lively power unit. Driving modestly, the C4 Cactus is capable of using a mere 4,6 litres of fuel per 100km, which is quite a save on the fuel budget.

Specifications for Citroën C4 Cactus 1,2 turbo:

Engine: 1,2-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol transmission, five-speed manual power, 81kW torque, 205Nm at 1 500rpm.
