Kids, parents celebrate Ascension Day

MOKOPANE – THE children of Ortloff’s Kindergarten danced and sang at the top of their voices in celebration of Ascension Day last Thursday.
All the children were dressed in white for the occasion. Their parents wrote their favourite Bible verses on cards, which were pasted to a wall.
Lindie Peens, owner of Ortloff’s Kindergarten, delivered a powerful message after which blue and white balloons were released in remembrance of Jesus’ ascension to heaven 40 days after the crucifiction.
On each balloon was a card with a Bible verse, a message saying that anyone who needed help could contact Peens, and a contact number.
The day ended with ice cream for the children and tea and delicious cupcakes for the parents.
Later on the same afternoon, one of the balloons reached a house in Fourie Street where a woman was going through a tough situation. The message arrived at the right time to give her hope.
“It just goes to show the power and the love of Jesus,” Peens said.
