MOLEMOLE – MOLEMOLE Municipality suspended services at the Mogwadi Drivers Licence Testing Centre (DLTC) after armed men broke in and looted R35 000 after bombing the safe last Monday evening.
Spokesperson for the Molemole Municipality, Morongwa Pholoba said the three suspects entered the premises and tied-up two security guards (male and female) with their shoelaces before they entered the office.
She said one of the men held the guards at gun point while the other two gained access to the office where the safe is.
“They bombed the safe in order to force it open. The impact of the bombing damaged the walls and ceilings of the office and the walls of other offices were also damaged.
“Two interior burglar doors were broken and batches forms were tampered with.
This incident interrupted services at the center. Management is trying its utmost best to ensure that licensing services resume as soon as possible.
“The licensing inspectorate at the department of transport is working tirelessly to assist the municipality in this regard. Services are going to be suspended longer than anticipated,” said Pholoba.
Spokesperson for the Mogwadi SAPS, Lt Phuti Morema said they have opened a business robbery case.
“Thugs took the cellphones and starter-packs from the two security guards.
“The men were seen leaving the premises with plastic bags.
One suspect aged 40 was arrested at Matoks early on Tuesday morning. He is going to be charged with business robbery,” said Morema.
