MOKOPANE – A 32-year-old reservist from Rietgat police station was arrested last Tuesday by Mahwelereng high-patrol members.
According to Const Irene Masingi, spokesperson for the Mokopane police, “it is alleged that Sgt Nelson Mdluli in conspiracy with a car salesman from Madiba Motors in Polokwane pretended to purchase a vehicle from the salesman.
“As they went for the test drive the employee came back to the store claiming that he was hijacked, but it was all part of their plan as their was already a buyer for the car in Mokopane.”
Information with regard to the car was circulated among the different police stations and the vehicle was spotted by the Mahwelereng high-patrol members.
Mdluli was in full police uniform and when he was asked to identify himself he failed to do so and he was arrested, reported Masingi.
He appeared before the Mokopane magistrate’s court on July 8.
The case was postponed for further investigations and he remains in custody, Masingi said.
