MOKOPANE – A FATAL accident on the N1 near the Zebediela tollgate claimed the lives of two men and seriously injured five others on Saturday afternoon.
According to Const Irene Masingi, spokesperson for the Mokopane police, “the vehicle overturned after the driver lost control. Two passengers died on the scene and five others sustained critical injuries and was rushed to hospital. A case of culpable homicide has been opened and a investigation is ongoing”.
One of the passengers who passed on and the five other who were injured have not been identified. “It is alleged that they were hitch-hiking and that they are from Mankweng and Khalayoni,”Masingi said.

Mphahlele told Bosveld “it is alleged the cause of the accident is a silver Tazz, with the letters Car patrol written in brown. The Tazz were chasing the vehicle from Polokwane and after the accident occurred the Tazz made a u-turn and drove away”.
