Kevin Gast, chairperson of the EPA, Carina Steenkamp, chairperson of the Nyl-action group, Bennie van Zyl, TAU SA general manager, and Philé van Zyl, chairperson of the Vhembe Mineral Resource Stakeholder forum, spoke about the negative effects of mining and how farming is the answer to a better economy.

This valuable question was raised last Thursday during the Nyl-action group and Boerevereniging information session.
The information session was attended by various groups of people including from the department of agriculture and water affairs and AriForum, and a member of the Mogalakwena municipality.
Carina Steenkamp, chairperson of the Nyl-action group, gave a overview of the successes of the action group since they formed in 2011.
“To fight this cause we need more people to join the process,” Steenkamp said with determination.
