DG seat still not filled

Rachel Molepo-Modipa's director-general position has still not been filled after her dismissal on July 1.

POLOKWANE – Rachel Molepo-Modipa’s director-general position has still not been filled after her dismissal on July 1.

Molepo-Modipa was appointed as the provincial director-general in December 2010. She was suspended on October 28, 2013 to allow investigations to go on regarding allegations of misconduct against her. She was found guilty and dismissed with immediate effect and Dr Phuti Pheme was appointed as acting director-general.

Provincial government spokesperson, Phuti Seloba, said: “we are in the process of filling the director-general’s position and Dr Phuti Pheme is acting as the director-general until the position is filled”.

Molepo-Modipa was not the only one in the line of fire, as there were several heads of departments who were also being investigated by the provincial government for misconduct.

“The provincial government wishes to stand by its initial letter of suspension that no amount of corruption or suspicion of the same shall be tolerated in this administration. The other cases involving HOD’s are still continuing and we believe they shall be concluded soon. We are not at liberty to provide names of those investigated as the investigations are internal,” Seloba said.
