This cancer-stricken mom needs your help
A 31-year-old mother of one was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 and lives in constant pain
POLOKWANE – The latest statistics published by the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) show breast cancer is still the most common cancer among women in the country.
A 31-year-old mother of one from Seshego Zone 5 is unfortunately part of these statistics.
Moloko Mochitele was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012. She is currently unemployed and lives with her mother, sister and daughter.
Molepana Mathekga, Moloko’s childhood friend, says it is difficult to see her friend in pain all the time. “I cannot stand to see her in pain anymore – it is heartbreaking to see her suffer like this.”
Moloko underwent a mastectomy on her left breast in 2013. She received chemotherapy at the Polokwane Provincial Hospital but it proved to be ineffective as the cancer spread.
According to Molepana, her friend then decided to consult a specialist for a second opinion.
“The specialist informed us proper chemotherapy treatment will cost R54 000. Her family does not have that kind of money,” says Molepana.
The women appeal to the public to assist Moloko in any way with treatment.
