LIMPOPO – In an earlier visit to the Nwamitwa community, Premier Stanley Mathabatha promised speedy electrification of houses and new boreholes.
This was after residents earlier this year took to the streets to protest against acute shortages of water and electrification.
During CV’s visit in Nwamitwa on Monday, Eskom was busy with the finishing touches on the electrification process.
“Electricity is a reality in our houses,” Gracious Mashele, one of the beneficiaries in Rwanda village, Nwamitwa outside Tzaneen, said.
“Mathabatha is the kind of leader we want. If given a chance, we will be happy to call for his second term both as Premier of the province and Chairperson of the ANC in Limpopo,” she added.
Water provided by the seven boreholes that were drilled also flowed from taps.
“Love is not what we say but what we do,” was Mathabatha’s message to the community. “The quick response to the Nwamitwa community proves the ANC cares and Limpopo cares. It shows our interest is with our people who put us into office to serve them. Our plea to the community is to use water sparingly and avoid illegal connections.”
