LIMPOPO – Ratepayers in Greater Tzaneen are now getting their monthly account statements through a multi-media service as part of a municipal attempt to curb delays by posting them.

According to Greater Tzaneen Municipality spokesperson, Neville Ndlala, the system will replace account statements that used to be sent to people by post. Ndlala said the system is fully automated, reliable and efficient, and account statements can be printed as well from the ratepayer’s cell phone device.

Ratepayers to ensure that they update their cell phone numbers

However, Ndlala called on ratepayers to ensure that they update their cell phone numbers by contacting the municipality’s help desk at (015) 307 8120 during office hours from 07:30 to 18:00.

“We were forced to do this by complaints from residents who frequently told us that they were getting their statements very late,” Ndlala said.

He added that in some instances, statements were lost in the post before they could reach their destinations. He added that the system has already started this month and seems to be working properly.
