Rapists sentenced to life imprisonment for crime committed in 2012

Three men in their early 20's were sentenced to a life imprisonment on 5 November in the Mokopane Magistrate's Court for the rape of a 24-year-old woman in 2012.

Three men in their early 20’s were sentenced to a life imprisonment on 5 November in the Mokopane Magistrate’s Court for the rape of a 24-year-old woman in 2012.

According to a media statement by Const Sello Leso, spokesperson for the Mahwelereng Police Station, Tonic Kekana (21), Franse Mashoahla (22) and Derrick Makhafola (19) were found guilty of raping Annah Nkanyane (24) on 18 March 2012.

Kekana was also linked to the rape of an 18-year-old girl that took place on 25 February 2012…10 years extra were added to his sentence for this rape.

Const Madimetja Mogale from the Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit in Mahwelereng successfully investigated both of these cases.

“It is a good day indeed when you see criminals pay for their barbaric actions.

“I hope that both of these victims can now find peace,” Leso added.
