Imbizo attracts more than 2 000 people

More than 2 000 people attended the Imbizo regarding crime awareness

LIMPOPO – More than 2 000 people attended the Imbizo regarding crime awareness hosted by the Provincial Commissioner, Lt General Fannie Masemola, last Wednesday at the Tshamahansi stadium in Mahwelereng.

General Masemola addressed the crowd consisting of various sister departments, partners in crime prevention and residents on the plans to heighten security operations during the festive season. He also spoke about the high number of certain crimes in the area and the number of police officials that has been killed during an operation. The crowd of people honoured the lives of policeman that were murdered during the fight against crime.

“The event was a great success especially on the fore front of the start of 16 days of activism for no violence against women and children, that officially starts on 25 November,” Const Sello Leso, spokesperson for the Mahwelereng police station, said.

The 16 Days of Activism for ‘No Violence Against Women and Children,’ is an international awareness-raising campaign. It takes place every year from 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to 10 December (International Human Rights Day).
