With a plan you can make more money – minister
Minister of Small Business Development, Lindiwe Zulu advised city's hawkers to be more creative and not to sell the same products
POLOKWANE – The Minister of Small Business Development, Lindiwe Zulu advised the city’s hawkers to be more creative and not to sell the same products.
She spoke during her visit to the Polokwane Taxi Rank opposite Limpopo Mall on Tuesday afternoon.
“With a plan you can make more money,” said Zulu.
Zulu challenged the MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environment to provide training for small business, which would equip them with better opportunities and ways to represent themselves.
“With training they will learn to become more creative. They must also come together and discuss with each other what they are selling so that they do not copy.
“The municipality must also upgrade the current shelters, which are used by informal businesses to sell their goods.
“The shelters are not good enough to protect them when it rains so it needs to be improved and more such structures must be built,” Zulu said.
She added the department and municipality must engage with big business to support informal businesses, as the informal businesses need the money to feed their children and pay school fees.
