It can be fun to watch a bartender carefully add an array of ingredients into a mixing glass, layers of different spirits, unusual liqueurs, custom tinctures and bizarre bitters. A bar is a great place to get familiar with unusual bottles and sample drinks that takes more effort than just opening the cupboard and filling a few jiggers.
Now you can make your own cocktails and virgin cocktails this summer with these four easy recipes from Adega Polokwane. It is possible for everybody to enjoy a refreshing cocktail with friends and family at home. Adega Polokwane’s bar lady, Imercia Moloto shared a few of their famous recipes to make this summer.
Long Island Ice Tea
A refreshing cocktail with Havana Club three years old rum, Tanqueray Gin, Smirnoff, Olmeca Edicion Black Tequila shaken cold with Tripple Sec and lemon juice. Moloto explained that all these ingredients must be put together strained over cubed ice and topped with Coca-Cola and cherries for decoration.
Classic Mojito
Louise Pretorius, General Manager of Adega Polokwane said the Classic Mojito is one of their restaurant’s famous cocktails, with fresh mint and lime muddled with Havana Club three years old rum and charged with soda poured in a glass.
Strawberry Daiquiri mocktail
For those that preferred drinks without alcohol, one can make a refreshing Strawberry Daiquiri with ingredients such as strawberries crushed in a blender and mixed with strawberry juice and a dash of lime, blended with crushed ice and topped with a strawberry for decoration.
Secretary’s Secret
Pretorius explained that they are the only restaurant that serves warm cocktails of which their Secretary’s Secret is famous. This special cocktail contains a delightful infusion of warmed milk, espresso and caramel vodka poured together.
Pretorius and Moloto said that it is very easy to make your own cocktails and that you can now also have your own homemade cocktails this summer with these effortless recipes and enjoy refreshing drinks next to the swimming pool during the hot summer days.
