POLOKWANE- For the third year in a row, Mitchell House has received 100% pass rate after all 27 candidates passed their IEB exams.
26 out of the 27 candidates obtained a Bachelor Degree pass, while one student obtained a diploma pass, which is an improvement on last year’s 74%. Headmaster Andrew Cook says that all but one candidate did better in their finals than in their preliminary exams. “This is testimony to the hard work put into the final revision period by the candidates themselves and a tribute to the remedial work done by the teachers,” said Cook.
Mitchell House’s 2015 Class achieved higher than the national average for accounting, business studies, geography, life sciences, life orientation, maths literacy as well as physical science.
Three learners achieved top results:
Sherwynne Steyn obtained four distinctions in accounting, afrikaans, business economics as well as mathematics. Sherwynne was the recipient of the Dux Trophy for 2015 in recognition of him being the top academic pupil of the year.
Head Girl, Panashe Furusa obtained 3 distinctions for life orientation, english and life sciences. Panashe was the recipient of subject awards for all subject she received distinctions for.
Princess Mampane also received three distinctions for life orientation, mathematics as well as geography.
A total of 26 distinctions were achieved with 49 B’s (Level 6) and 67 C’s (level 5).
Cook says that the learners have left Mitchell House the richer having attended the school.
