POLOKWANE- Hard work, proper time management and dedication pays off indeed, according to Modjadji Mokoto, one of Capricorn High School’s top matriculants of 2015.
Modjadji plans to obtain her degree in computer science at Edith Cowan University (ECU) in Australia.
The 18-year-old attained a bachelor’s pass with one distinction in the final Gr 12 examinations. “I have already been accepted for a degree in computer science, I was just waiting for my results and I am so happy they didn’t disappoint me. I will continue to raise the Limpopo flag wherever I go,” she said, while holding her statement of results.
Modjadji said it has always been her dream to study overseas and now that dream came true. She says her uncle lives in Australia so she won’t feel lost, but she will definitely miss home. “This is a chance for me to be independent and make my mother proud,” she added.
She was raised by her single mother, Mabu, and she is the youngest of four children.
“She is the first one of my children who will be studying outside South Africa.
“It’s not easy for me but I have to support her and let her pursue her career; she has to grow and focus on her life without me next to her,” her mother told Review.
She further extended her gratitude to the teachers and principal who kept pushing the learners to work hard in order to achieve good results.
Modjadji thanked her school principal, Lucas Chuene, her parents, teachers and classmates for encouraging her to study hard. “They are all sources of inspiration and I will continue to make them proud,” she said with a big smile on her face.
