In the business of combating crime
The crime rate of South Africa remains high and is still a prominent issue
POLOKWANE – To help resolve this, Eric Mabasa, a teacher turned businessman, successfully runs a business which helps curb criminal activities in the Polokwane community.
Mabasa, born in Tlangelani Village in Malamulele, says he was troubled by the high crime rate in the country and decided to embark on a business venture to help reduce crime and save lives.
He bought into a franchise, Tuff Tint. “I saw many people losing lives and vehicles due to car hijackings and theft of their valuables from their cars at intersections. That pushed me to start this business. My aim is to protect families and their property” says Mabasa.
Tuff Tint does anti-smash and grab window lamination on vehicles, which is safe and durable. The perpetrators scout the content of the vehicle from outside then they smash the window with a sharp object and steal whatever they desire from the car.
Some of the benefits of this window lamination are that it prevents immediate entry into your vehicle by thieves, minimises injury in case of a collision and keeps your car cooler in the sun.
“We also tint windows at houses and offices to provide privacy and keep out harmful UV rays so you can relax in ideal comfort and safety without fear of intruders,” he adds.
Mabasa says since the inception of his company in Polokwane, he has saved many lives directly and indirectly. Tuff Tint is one of the Tracker approved fitment centres for anti-smash and grab in the city.
Mabasa’s team of well trained technicians work with Tracker South Africa, fitting tracking devices in vehicles to help in vehicle theft recovery.
Mabasa believes in excellence and hard work. While he is still a teacher, Mabasa’s level of commitment in what he does saw him awarded a scholarship to further his teaching studies. He holds a B.A. degree from Unisa.
