
POLOKWANE – For residents to enjoy basic service delivery from the municipality without having to travel to the city, the municipality opened cluster offices in all six of its clusters.
This initiative is to strengthen coordination of service delivery and improve the quality of services rendered to the local communities.
The clusters include Seshego, Mankweng, city (Polokwane), Sebayeng/Dikgale, Maja/Chuene/Molepo and Moletjie.
The cluster offices are centres which provide integrated municipal services and information to communities close to where they live.
Municipal Spokesperson, Matsidiso Mothapo, said this is part of government’s overall strategy to improve the quality of life of all the citizens.
“The Cluster Strategic Business Unit (SBU) under the Strategic Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation directorate is responsible for the coordination of activities and programmes carried out by the other SBU’s in the municipality,” Mothapo explained.
Activities and programmes carried out at the cluster offices, particularly in Seshego and Mankweng are:
• Revenue collection.
• Water and sanitation.
• Roads and storm water.
• Spatial planning and land use management.
• Waste management.
• Environmental management.
• Library services.
• Traffic (Seshego).
• Traffic and licensing in Mankweng.
• Fire services in Mankweng.
The cluster offices operate Monday to Friday for eight hours per day.
In Seshego the municipality has three cluster offices operating in Zone 1, 3 and 8.
In Mankweng there are three cluster offices operating in Unit A, B and C.
The location of the other cluster offices are:
• Moletjie cluster offices – next to the Traditional Authority offices.
• Maja/Chuene/Molepo cluster offices – Ga-Mothiba Ngwana Mago.
• Sebayeng/Dikgale cluster offices – Solomondale.
Personnel from other SBUs have also been deployed to these offices to render services that include:
• Revenue collection at Sebayeng/Dikgale.
• Water and sanitation.
• Roads and storm water.
• Traffic.
