Jubilant ululations were a clear indication of winners’ joy on Saturday when they learned which prizes they won in Goseame Open Market in Polokwane’s Win a Car Competition.
The competition ran from 21 September last year to 12 February. Participants had to spend R1 000 or more to qualify for the draw and the finalists had to be at Goseame on Saturday to receive their prizes.
Prizes included appliances such as fridges, food processors, plasma television sets and washing machines as well as meat hampers.
The final draw saw the finalists pull folded pieces of paper on which the prizes were written from a box. The appliances were sponsored by Makro and the meat hampers by Goseame Open Market, while the grand prize, a Hyundai i10, was sponsored by Hyundai Polokwane.
Maria Mello won the car and said she could not believe her luck. “I thank God for this wonderful prize. I also want to thank Goseame and all the sponsors for my new car. I am so happy, I don’t know how to say thank you enough,” she said.
Goseame Open Market Butchery Manager, Francois du Plessis handed out the prizes and said he enjoyed this opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives.
