The annual Shavaton of the National Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) took place at Mall of the North, Savannah Mall and at Makro on Saturday and hundreds of people had their hair shaven off or sprayed in all colours of the rainbow for the cause.
Volunteers took willing members of the public in hand to shave or spray for a small donation.
At Makro Karin Human, Cansa Administrative Support Officer and EB Pistorius, a volunteer, had a lot of trouble to convince customers to pop in for a quick shave, but people willingly submitted to hair being sprayed or else a donation was given.
At Savannah Mall Maryna van der Merwe, her daughter and Katryn and her fiancé Estévan Dorfling set the tone with spraying their hair and raking in a lot of “customers” willing to lose their hair or have it sprayed to donate to Cansa. Volunteers Elzitha Pretorius, Julian Scott and Chantelle Knoetze.
The amount raised through donations was R12 600.
