The Special Focus Unit of Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) recently hosted an awards ceremony in the city where excellence of various role players in the social transformation area were recognised.
Special awards were made to Anna Moloi (Climate Change Category), Rejoice Chokoe (Emerging Entrepreneurship Category), Rachel Ramodike (Leadership Category) and George Makgolane (Gender Based Violence Category) and the recipients each received a trophy, certificate and a camera with accessories.
Delegates from the stakeholders that took part in the summit also received certificates of attendance.
The event formed part of CDM’s District Gender Justice Summit that aimed to bring NGOs, community and faith based organisations, gender links and members of the Commission on Gender Equality together to have a conversation about gender equality, gender based violence and the role of the municipality in advancing the struggle for equality in society and in the workplace.
Patricia Mahlo, CDM acting Executive Mayor delivered the key note address at the awards ceremony and said that the freedom charter entrenched a vision and a promise of equality and the dream of an equal society where men and women, black and white are able to each make a meaningful contribution to building a better South Africa.
