An event to promote the new BluMobile service that will be of great value for businesswomen in particular, was hosted by the Limpopo branch of the Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa (Bwasa) in collaboration with Standard Bank last Tuesday.
Jeff-Neil van der Merwe, Provincial Sales and Service Manager of Standard Bank Limpopo, said that BluMobi is a card acceptance device which works in conjunction with the BluMobi app and allows smartphone users with iOS, Android and Blackberry devices to accept MasterCard and Visa PIN based cards. It is perfectly suited to mobile sales representatives, mobile service representatives, seasonal and weekend traders as well as delivery and courier services.
“One of the problems facing businesses today is collecting payments for services. This can be particularly difficult if the business operates ‘on the go’ and does not have access to a normal card acceptance terminal,” Van der Merwe said.

Many questions regarding the practical use of the device were raised and a panel of the bank’s representatives ensured that there were no uncertainties about the value of this initiative for businesswomen.
All women entrepreneurs holding a current Standard Bank account and who attended the workshop received a BluMobi device at no cost.
