The Limpopo branch of the Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa (Bwasa) recently embarked on a campaign to collect corporate clothing for disadvantaged young women from the rural areas that are about to enter the formal work environment.
Items were collected during the month of April and were recently handed over to a group of 15 young ladies at a function in Giyani organised by Bwasa Limpopo Executive Committee members Nkhensani Mushwana and Rose Mageza. Also present were Bwasa Limpopo Chairperson Mmabogoshi Msiza and Executive Committee members Elizabeth Modiba; Thenjiwe Thoka, Martie Mphelo and Irma Norminton.
Norminton, Executive Committee member for Marketing, informed that at the handing over ceremony, Mphelo explained to attendees and the benefactors of the clothing that the purpose of giving the clothing is to support young women and assist underprivileged young women entering the job market. “Many underprivileged young women have worked very hard, under challenging circumstances to matriculate with the desire to enter the formal job market,” Mphelo is quoted to have said.
Rose Mageza, one of the employers, said that her assistant was one of the corporate wear beneficiaries. “She is rocking to work with Armani, Jenni Button and Hilton Weiner jackets every day. Her confidence is up there. She is so grateful. She was in need and received more than she never thought she would receive in her lifetime. Thank you ladies for making dreams come true,” Mageza said.
