A cold winter’s night under the stars will help to drive the plight of many homeless children home when Meropa Casino and Entertainment World’s executive management and personnel will stage a Sympathy SleepOut on 28 July as part of the CEO SleepOut initiative.
Meropa is calling on the community to donate winter clothing, blankets, linen, and also books, stationery and non-perishable food to help spread warmth and love to vulnerable children.
All donations will be distributed to children’s charities in Polokwane and Bela-Bela. Donations can be dropped off at Meropa’s entrance throughout July. People who want to be part of the Sympathy SleepOut can join Meropa employees at the Cultural Village at Meropa Casino and Entertainment World on 28 July from 18:00.
Meropa’s Sympathy SleepOut is aligned with the Sun International CEO SleepOut initiative. The CEO SleepOut creates a force for positive change and sustainable social impact in South Africa’s most vulnerable communities and societies, by forging relationships with those in a position of power and influence. Last year, the initiative raised more than R26 million.
Believing that the ‘old’ system of raising funds and donations has run its course, The CEO SleepOut aims to create new, mindful fund-raising, where money is raised with understanding, empathy and deep insight into the lives of vulnerable, homeless South Africans.
For more information on the Meropa Sympathy SleepOut or how to help vulnerable children in Polokwane and Bela-Bela, please call Mothomoni Mapela on 015 290 5400 or send an email to mothomoni.mapela@suninternational.co.za.
