Young Chris Hofmeyer learners give back to less fortunate
Learners from Chris Hofmeyer Primary school are paying it forward by helping those less fortunate.
POLOKWANE – As part of their Life Skills project, the learners decided to give back by donating their old clothing, shoes and books to the children from Samaritan House.
Jimmy Maponya, the Life Skills facilitator at the school, and he explained how the project came about. “As part of their Life Skills subject, the children had to come up with a project that shows that they care about their fellow human beings. They had to go out and get information and identify which centre they wanted to help. Two of the learners suggested that we give back to the Samaritan centre.”
The two learners in questions are Shati Dikgale and Lethabo Leputu. Shati explained why she and her fellow learners decided to do this project. “Lethabo and I decided to come to the Samaritan Centre because we wanted to give back to the community. We felt that there were things we don’t use or wear anymore and that we can give them to those who are less fortunate,” Dikgale explained.
Dipuo Chauke, the Samaritan Centre’s administrator and she says they are extremely happy at the gesture.
