UPDATE 7 – Local newsmakers followed the example of President Jacob Zuma when they queued with fellow-countrymen to cast their vote in the local government elections today.
Polokwane Observer’s editorial team members have been out in full force since early to get images of the role players in local politics at voting stations across the city.
RC Myburgh captured photos of Premier Stan Mathabatha who voted at Laerskool Pietersburg-Oos at around the same time as Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) Provincial Electoral Officer (PEO) Nkaro Mateta.
Barry Viljoen was there when Polokwane Executive Mayor Thembi Nkadimeng cast her vote at Florapark Comprehensive Primary School late morning.
Herbert Rachuene – joined by Alet-Elize van Jaarsveld – photographed Economic Freedom Fighters Commander-in-Chief (EFF CIC) Julius Malema at Mponegele Primary School in Seshego, also at noon. At the time there was no queue. Malema, wife Mantwa and his grandmother, Sarah were accompanied by EFF Provincial Secretary Jossey Buthane.
Nelie Erasmus is expected to still connect with Democratic Alliance (DA) Provincial Leader Jacques Smalle when he goes to vote in Polokwane later on.
In the meantime a photo was received of Transport, Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Mapula Mokaba-Phukwana voting at Bet Shalom Church in Bendor.
