Meropa Casino and Entertainment World employees and courageous volunteers last Thursday spent a night outdoors on one of the coldest nights of the year to better understand the plight of the homeless and to collect donations for children’s charities in Polokwane and Bela-Bela.
Miss Humanity International South Africa 2016, Charmaine Nkosi joined the volunteers and donated books to the cause.
She donned adorable panda pyjamas to keep the worst cold out. Other volunteers also wore interesting attire with one even showing up in a full business suit.
Meropa’s Sympathy SleepOut is aligned with the Sun International CEO SleepOut initiative. The CEO SleepOut creates a force for positive change and sustainable social impact in South Africa’s most vulnerable communities and societies, by forging relationships with those in a position of power and influence. Last year, the initiative raised more than R26 million.
The CEO SleepOut aims to create new, mindful fund-raising, where money is raised with understanding, empathy and deep insight into the lives of vulnerable, homeless South Africans.
