PCS learners shine at friendly local debate competition

The debating team of Pietersburg Comprehensive School (PCS) won a friendly competition against Mitchell House at Mitchell House hall last Wednesday.
The motion of the day: ‘Should euthanasia or physician assisted suicide be legalised?’ was proposed by the hosts and opposed by the visitors. Each team was made up of 12 learners from grades 5, 6 and 7.
Jackie Steyn, educator and debate coach expressed her satisfaction with their victory. “Although it was a tough contest we are happy to have won the competition. I am extremely proud of my learners and I wish them good luck in our next match,” Steyn said.
Mpho Moruba, a member of the PCS team was named Best Speaker of the competition. “I am happy to have been chosen as the best speaker of the competition. The recognition encourages me to do well in further competitions,” Mpho said.
