Learners receive new school shoes

Having to walk to school barefoot is a thing of the past for several learners from Bloodriver.

LIMPOPO – This is all due to the Thapelo Nchabeleng Foundation which donated school shoes to needy learners in Thakgalang Primary School on Thursday.

Thapelo Nchabeleng, the founder of the foundation, says they aim to eradicate social ills in society by distributing food parcels and donating school uniforms to less privileged learners in the community.

“These donations do not serve as a marketing tool, it is about empowering the future leaders of our country. We want to see all children achieving good results, regardless of thier background. We want them to attend school in clean, well fitted school uniforms and food in their stomachs,” Nchabeleng explained.

“I hope this donation will encourage the learners to concentrate on their studies rather than engaging in criminal activities that can ruin their future.

“There are several orphans within our communities and we want to share the little we have with them to help them achieve their goals,” he told CV.

He added that he wants to help change the lives of as many people as possible through his foundation.

One of the recipients of a pair of new school shoes, Kgothatso Makhabane, said she was grateful to own a pair of shoes and that it will make walking to school much easier.

One of the school’s Heads of Department (HOD), Jarkie Ramalepe, said she believes the donation will restore hope and pride in the learners. “We have experienced difficult times in previous years, with many learners being absent, especially in winter, as a result of them not having proper school shoes or warm clothes. Today we are happy that the Thapelo Nchabeleng Foundation has given these learners hope for the future. We believe this donation will be beneficial to them and encourage them to work hard in school and one day do the same for the people in their community,” Ramalepe said.
