Morayza honoured at FAME awards

Thobela FM After Party show's entertainment reporter, Raymond Morayza Selowa says winning the Film, Arts, Music and Entertainment (FAME) Award for Best Radio Entertainment Reporter is a reward for the hard work he puts into his job.

LIMPOPO – The 21-year-old shed tears of joy as he walked on stage to accept the award.

He was born and raised in Seaphole, a small village in Bolobedu, where becoming a radio presenter is not a common dream. However, he did not let that stop him from achieving his dream.

Morayza attended school at Khumelong Primary School and in 2008 later Bolotswi Secondary School. He attended high school at Modubatse High School where he participated in various activities such as being an MC at the school’s farewell functions among other events.

“I grew up preaching the word of God at my school’s assembly, attempting to imitate the late Joe Mabotja of Thobela FM and that resulted in people calling him Joe Mabotja,” said Raymond.

Commentating has always been in his blood. When he was a young boy at school, he would always offer running commentary of his friends’ soccer matches.

“Winning the award shows I have a passion for radio. I was rejected by many radio stations before I landed the job at Thobela FM.

“This award proves I am worthy of my job,” he said. “After Party listeners should get ready for an even bigger and better radio show.”

He said being popular is not his goal in life, he wants to make a positive impact on the lives of others withhis work.

“When people reject you, never give up because there are still many avenues you can use to reach your goals,” he concluded.
