After taking the bold step to start a new professional services firm in the current uncertain economic climate, auditing, accounting and advisory firm Veritas Inc celebrated their first anniversary with their clients and staff at a business breakfast with well-known journalist and political commentator, Justice Malala in Polokwane on Friday.
“We are very proud to say that we can look back at a successful year full of highlights. We started out believing that we can make a difference in our community and our province and now we are seeing the results,” says George Malan, founding member and Director at Veritas Inc. “We would never have been able to achieve our goals had it not been for our loyal clients and dedicated employees. The business breakfast was our way of saying thank you to our clients and our staff for their support.”
Derek Venter, also a founding member and Director, says Veritas Inc is a fully accredited SAICA and SAIPA training office, providing young people with the opportunity to develop and grow in the professional field of accounting and auditing. He stressed that there was a dire need in Limpopo to create training opportunities and that Veritas is passionate about training and development. He indicated that clients supporting Veritas are making a valuable contribution to this cause as it creates opportunities to expose trainees to different environments.
“In line with our ambition to be the largest employer of trainee accountants in Limpopo and to contribute to the development of the province by training well rounded accountants and auditors, we have opened our doors to trainees,” he says, adding that two trainee accountants completed their articles in December last year and that Veritas Inc welcomed eight new trainees to the firm during 2016.
“We are also very proud that one of our trainees have passed the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) exam and became the first Veritas trained Chartered Accountant.”
Third founding member and Director, Christine Espach voiced her thanks to both clients and staff. “We want to say a big thank you to all of our clients, colleagues, family and friends that supported us in our first year. We have built many great relationships and are looking forward to continue these relationships and serving our clients as their trusted business partners every step of the way.
Thank you for helping to make Veritas Inc a great place to be associated with” she said. “We are proud of what we have achieved in our first year. We employed 26 people and offered bursaries to four staff members and one prospective recruit.”
After successfully completing several large consulting assignments in the private and public sector Malan, Venter and Espach also announced the launch of a new venture, Veritas Advisory Services, to complement and supplement the services that Veritas Inc offers.
“Veritas Advisory Services works closely with a network of experts to add value to our portfolio of services and to deliver tailor made solutions for our clients,” Malan says.
Some of the specialised services that Veritas Advisory Services will be delivering to a diverse client base include:
Performance improvement consultations;
Forensic investigations;
Human resources services;
Policy and procedures development;

Strategic planning facilitation;
