POLOKWANE – To raise money for a charity event you do not need to be prim and proper, you can also be a little bit kinky.

The Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) Polokwane decided to put this to the test by hosting a Kinky Cuppa on Thursday, 25 August.

“It started as a joke, but then escalated and here we are,” says David Booth, Community Mobiliser for fundraising at Cansa. “For a very conservative city we will have about 80 women attending tonight. Young and old bought tickets to this event.”

Elizabeth du Plessis was the master of ceremony and Debbie Ellis hosted a make-up demonstration, giving the women tips on how to apply their make-up flawlessly.“
Ursula Miles from Pure Romance told the guests about her relationship enhancement products. She explained that all profits made globally by Pure Romance are donated to Cansa for cancer research.
“The best thing a woman can wear is confidence. We are all different and each one of us has a different love language. You should be open for communication with your partner,” was her advice.

The Kinky Cuppa was a resounding success and during an informal challenge among the guests, R26 000 was donated on the spot.

“We are so thankful and so blessed for all the donations. We thank each and every one for their contribution in making our Kinky Cuppa such a big success,” says Booth.

To end the evening, Jade Visagie and Christal Groenewald, who do pole dancing for a hobby, demonstrated a few moves for the guests after which the guests, and Booth, had the opportunity to showcase what they learned.

Cansa thanks the following sponsors for their contribution:

  • Bolivia Lodge.
  • Toys for Boys.
  • Spar Platinum Park.
  • Elizabeth de Villiers.
  • Monika de Beer.
