The Mokopane English Combined School (MECS) held a fairytale matric farewell last Thursday. Lilly Labuschagne, head girl, stole the spotlight with her princess dress and she and her partner, Quinton Lourens was the talk of the town on social media.
MOKOPANE – Kameeldoring Golf Club was a fitting venue as the hall was decked in white and blue light, with the candlelight reflected in hundreds of crystals sparkling on the tables. On behalf of the Governing body of MECS, Henrik van Niekerk delivered a motivational address to the learners. The new head boy and head girl for the 2016-2017 year Mosa Kekae and Merriam Cachalia, took the opportunity to wish the group well and to encourage them to study hard in preparation for the coming examinations. MECS Principal, Dr Adriaan Lubbe, expressed his gratitude for the teachers who organised the event, and to all the parties involved in contributing to the successful evening. He emphasised that the whole community plays a role in making this school the great success that it is.
