Good Hope pupils show off their entrepreneurial skills

Gr 7 learners at Good Hope Primary School put their entrepreneurial skills to the test on Friday during their entrepreneur day.

POLOKWANE – Learners sold various goods on the day and all the money they accumulated will be donated to the school.

According to economic management science teacher, Piana Melita, the school wants to teach learners entrepreneurship skills at an early age. “Our learners did the theory in class where they had to research the needs of their potential customers and which goods they thought would sell well.

“They had to consider all the threats and identify weaknesses in their plans and they all worked out stellar business plans,” she said.

She explained the learners are assessed in pairs. “The main objective of the day is to teach our learners entrepreneurship skills. Entrepreneur day is held annually in the third quarter. We use such activities to raise funds for the schools because our learners don’t pay school fees and we rely on donations to keep the school going,” she continued.
