Samaritan assists APD

A local resident Martha Chuene-Masopoga has a kind heart and a giving hand.

POLOKWANE – The educator teamed up with Miami Lodge recently to donate a number of much needed items to the Association of Persons with Disabilities (APD) in Penina Park. They donated sheets, pillow cases, mattress protectors and duvets to the residents of the centre. According to Martha, she is a firm believer in giving back to the less fortunate.

“I wanted to give back to the people in my community. This is something that is close to my heart and the people at the APD centre are really deserving,” Martha explained. According to Christa van der Walt from APD, this is a gesture that is highly appreciated. “It’s so amazing that they didn’t know us at all but still decided to help us.

“What makes this so special is the fact that most of the people at the centre rely on their disability grants and this donation will help them immensely,” Christa said.

According to Martha, she wouldn’t have been able to make the donation without the help of her sponsor, Miami Lodge. She said she is thankful for the assistance she received from the establishment.

Sarah Mathiba, an employee at Miami Lodge, said it is a pleasure to help someone like Martha do good in the community.

“I am really proud of what we were able to achieve today,” Sara said.
