Oosskool remains favourite in mountain bike series

Laerskool Pietersburg-Oos (Oosskool) mountain bikers remain tops in the nippers and sprogs categories of the annual Limpopo Spur Schools Mountain Bike Series while mixed results are being achieved in the junior and youth categories.
The third leg of the series, Tour de Pot was hosted in Mokopane on Saturday and Oosskool learners Marili Nel (20:03), Elri Janse van Rensburg and Tashane Ehlers took the first three positions in the nippers girls’ category. The nippers boys’ category was also won by Oosie, John-Ross Donovan (18:40).
Reinhard Janse van Vuuren (24:46) also from Oosskool claimed victory in the sprogs category while Janke Joubert (29:59) top scored in the girls’ category. The sub-junior categories for girls and boys were won by Simoné Oberholzer (47:01) from Hoërskool Louis Trichardt and Arno Smit (33:33) from Hoërskool Piet Potgieter respectively.
The youth girls’ category was won by Emma van Coller (56:22), a private entry, with Richardt Lambert from Louis Trichardt finishing first in the boys category with a time of (47:16). Amelia Middelton from Hoërskool Merensky was the first junior girl with a time of 1:03.58 with boy cyclist from Louis Trichardt, Marno van Zyl (1:03.17) claiming first place in the boys’ category. The final leg, Tour de Lip will be hosted in Louis Trichardt on 17 September. Cyclists who qualify for Limpopo colours will then compete in the final of the series in Magaliesburg next month.
