The team at Elegant Fuel Service Station celebrated the first ever annual Sunflower Day on Friday and showed their support for the Sunflower Fund and bone marrow transplants.
Frank Hislop Jr, owner of Elegant Fuel Service Station explained that Sunflower Day was a new campaign to replace National Bandana Day. Sunflower Day will be celebrated on the third Friday of September every year.
The Sunflower Fund is a South African non-profit organisation dedicated to creating awareness, educating the public and facilitating the registration process for people to join the South African Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR).
The fund also introduced a brand new product to replace its iconic bandana, the ‘Tube of Hope’ or Tope. A Tope is a multipurpose article of clothing, with practical functionality, for the whole family and can be worn in a variety of ways including as a headband, mask, scarf, cap or armband.
Topes are available at Pick n Pay Stores and all proceeds are donated to the Sunflower Fund.
“This is why we at Elegant Fuel are proud to wear our Topes on Sunflower Day. Every Tope sold offers hope of life to patients suffering from life threatening blood diseases,” Hislop said.
