The CANSA Relay for Life event took place at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium on 7 and 8 October.

POLOKWANE – This year’s theme was “Walking in their Shoes” and saw community members turn out to walk the track for twelve hours for their loved ones in remembrance.

The event started off as usual with the Survivors Lap and the caregivers lap who got the walking started. CANSA’s community mobiliser for fundraising, David Booth, was the MC for evening and told Review that the event was a success although, he would have liked more teams to enter. ”

Any time that we get together to celebrate our survivors is a success” – David Booth

Other highlights of the evening included several performances by Rock Hard Music performers and of course, the Luminari service where candles were lit in remembrance of loved ones who had died.

As next year is the 10th anniversary of the relay, Booth says he would love for more teams to enter. “I’d love to see the field full next year,” he said.
