Limpopo Executive Council (Exco) conducted its first outreach since the local government elections to the newly established Lim 345 municipality, meeting residents in Mudavula village on Friday as part of the Exco’s 2016 Imbizo programme.
Provincial Government Spokesperson Phuti Seloba in a press release stated that Premier Stan Mathabatha led the outreach.
Mathabatha reportedly prior to the interactive session also visited two struggling households in Mbhalati Village and officiated the sod turning of a house to be built in Mbhalati Village. He also handed over a new house to a destitute family of orphans.
Mathabatha was accompanied by the MEC for Cooperative Governance Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, Makoma Makhurupetje, Social Development MEC Joyce Mashamba, Vhembe District Executive Mayor Florence Radzilani, Lim 345 Mayor Joyce Bila, acting Director-General Nnana Manamela and residents who wanted to witness the handover and celebrate with the families.
The outreach was attended by residents from Mudavula and surrounding villages under the jurisdiction of Hosi Eric Chauke, who is also the Deputy Chair of the Limpopo House of Traditional Leaders. According to Seloba residents came out in numbers to air their concerns about service delivery challenges.
Residents in attendance raised issues related to water, gravel roads, housing, amongst others. MECs responded to issues affecting their departments while Mathabatha promised that all issues will be followed up and get addressed.
The PEC will be visiting Manganeng village, Makhuduthamaga Municipality tomorrow
(Friday), to be followed by Makhushane village, Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality next month.
