Private school gr. 12’s top achievers

The final results for the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) matric exams were made public on Friday, 29 December.

POLOKWANE -The IEB is a South African assessment agency that conducts assessment for examination in schooling and adult education, and is accredited by Umalusi.

IEB Chief Executive Officer, Anne Oberholzer, said a total of 13 schools in Limpopo participated in these examinations amounting to more than 11 000 learners writing the exams.

There is a total of six IEB schools in the city: Curro Heuwelkruin, Eagles Nest Christian School, Jabez Christian School, Mitchell House College, PEPPS Polokwane College, and Maseala Progressive School.

Mitchell House obtained a 100% pass rate with 21 of the 23 learners earning a bachelor degree pass. The class earned 39 distinctions with two learners topping the cluster with six distinctions each.

Mitchell House’s Head of College, Claude Goeminne, congratulated the learners on their outstanding results adding that he is extremely proud of the 2016 matrics.

Curro Heuwelkruin is another IEB school with bragging rights as they also boast a 100% pass rate with 34 of the 36 learners earning a bachelor degree pass.

The matrics earned 73 distinctions with one learner obtaining eight and another six distinctions respectively, both topping the cluster.

“We are exceptionally proud of our 2016 Kruinies and wish them a bright future,” says Curro Heuwelkruin Phase Head, Carol-Lynn Nel.
