Polokwane Tourism Association (PTA) claims great successes for the past year and is ready to change the tourism scene of the city during its second year of existence.
PTA Chairperson Gerhard Franken told Polokwane Observer that the association has been at the forefront of conversations and discussions the past year. “Advances towards better communication, collaboration between other tourism agencies and promoting the city were made. The members of the Executive Committee worked tirelessly to enhance not just the tourism but to promote social awareness and create cohesion,” Franken said and also recognised the vital input and assistance received from Polokwane Municipality.
He alluded to two network evenings that focused on creating collaboration between stakeholders, a training session held regarding universal accessibility, involvement in the Polokwane and Letaba shows and exhibitions at local malls as well as a host of other efforts to promote local tourism. Franken said 2017 will see the first ever Interprovincial Tourism Association Lekgotla in the Province, a movie night at Bakone Molapa as well as the first ever Polokwane Tourism and Arts Festival.
He urged all businesspersons to join the PTA. “We cannot do it without our members and we must continue to grow membership as the bigger we get the better we can represent our members,” Franken said.
Current members of the Executive Committee of the PTA are Franken, Grace Sibara, Irma Normington, Nico de Wet, Gift Tsotetsi and Mahodi Legodi.
