Taxila teen taken too soon
Her friends and family will remember her as a go-getter and she will be missed by all
POLOKWANE – A Grade 10 Taxila Secondary School learner passed away after a short illness recently.
The school and wider community are in mourning as Lebogang Junior Nkoana was a bright young girl and her death came as a shock to all.
Lebogang was rushed to Limpopo Mediclinic in Polokwane two weeks ago after she had trouble breathing. Despite the most valiant efforts of doctors and medical personnel she had to be placed on a medical ventilator to assist her breathing.
She died on Sunday and her sister, Regina, said all her hopes and dreams for her sister were shattered, leaving her all alone.
Regina described her as a smart and brave child who wished to study medicine after completing Gr 12.
“I thought she was going to get better but I was wrong. Watching her in hospital was more like watching a horror movie because I could see my sister was in pain but I couldn’t help her. Her hopes of becoming a doctor were shattered,” she said.
Regina has two children and is unemployed which, along with the tragedy of losing her sister, now leaves her with the predicament of being unable to pay for her sister’s funeral.
“Lebogang and I were the only two remaining at home and I don’t know how I will survive without her. Our parents died a while ago and now I lost my younger sister, I feel as if the whole world is collapsing around me,” Regina explained.
“It hurts when I think about Lebogang. Now I am the only one left in my family and I plead with the community and businesses to assist me financially so I can give my sister a decent burial,”.
The deceased’s friends and schoolmates took to social media to voice their remorse and send condolences to the family.
Tshiamiso Boy-Maratha Nkoana wrote: “Life is unfair. The young brave queen has fallen… rest in peace lebogang jounier nkoana… till we meet again cuzn.” (sic).
Taxila Secondary School Principal, Tlou Ramara, School Governing Body (SGB), teachers and learners said she was a learner who had great potential and they are saddened by her unexpected death.
“Our deepest and innermost condolences is conveyed to the entire Nkoana family. She had a lot of determination and drive to succeed but she always made time to interact with her peers. She will be remembered for her remarkable personality,” Ramara said.
