Hoedspruit woman sentenced for murdering her husband

Visser shot and killed her husband in February last year.

LIMPOPO-  Carolina Catharine Visser (44) was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, in the Polokwane High Court recently.

She was also sentenced to three years imprisonment for unlawful possession of a fire arm and a further six months imprisonment for  possession of ammunition without a license.

Visser shot and killed her husband, Leon Potgieter (52), during a domestic dispute on 19 February 2016, in Kampesrus outside Hoedspruit. She shot him three times in the head and his body was found on a bed in their house the following day.

Police spokesperson, LT Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe says Visser had been complaining about domestic violence against her husband but she never reported anything to the police.

He concluded that SAPS condemns any act of domestic violence even when it ends up taking the life of a person.
