Frills and pearls make a comeback

Vintage is the the latest trend and more and more people are embracing the look

POLOKWANE – Stylist and vintage clothing collector, Mapula Legodi (28), is bringing back timeless looks to Polokwane and she’s inviting people with similar taste to come and scan the vintage rail.

Legodi hails from Botlokwa and grew up in Seshego but now resides in Polokwane. She attended primary school in Seshego and went to Tom Naude Technical High School. Legodi’s husband of five years and her son are her best supporters. She has a diploma in web development from CTU Training Solutions and is currently busy with a diploma in public relations management with Lyceum College.

“I refer to myself as a creative-minded person. I do photography, am a communicator, a stylist and the founder of Let’s talk Vintage, a vintage store that caters to those who require a distinctive look,” she said. Legodi is also a founder of Ithate Athletics Team, a running club.

“I sing and write music for our church, Many Membered Son, that we lead with my husband. I express myself however I wish. Actually the term ‘unique,’ and the expression ‘keep it weird,’ motivate me, they are different, yet similar. They both need you to learn how to unlock the complex problem-solving and critical thinking required to produce ‘killer’ creativity. I love freedom. I’ve found my gift and am rejoicing in my calling without fear,” she said. She believes the timeless quality of fabric and elegance in vintage clothes make her fall in love all over again. She does not design vintage clothes from scratch but collects pre-owned clothes and resells them. ” I just love being unique and ‘weird’ sometimes.” What Legodi loves about vintage clothes is that she believes that when you attend an event you will not be compared to anyone else when wearing vintage clothes. “You’ll be the only person in the room wearing that vintage dress. You did not just go to any store and select one of the 100’s of dresses there, you are guaranteed a unique look. We only sell one of everything with the best timeless designs and fabrics,” she said. Legodi gives fashion and styling advice, “Know your style, be comfortable and master it. When fashion and new trends comes and goes you able to blend in without losing your style. Progress and growth are intentional,” she said. Find out more about this fashionista on Facebook: Mapula Legodi and instagram: Letstalkvintage and Mapula_Ithate.
