MEC cooks up a delicious storm for charity
Guests were treated to a night of wining and dining accompanied by exceptional music and poetry, all for a good cause, at Mike's Kitchen on Friday.
POLOKWANE – The event, organised by Sport, Arts and Culture MEC, Onicca Moloi, aimed to act as a fundraiser for child-headed households and other community projects such as Talitha Khoum among others.
Not only is Onicca a MEC, she is also a gifted chef, known as TP1 (The Pure One), and although the event was initially set to be a five-course dinner, it was cut down to a two-course dinner due to time constraints.

The energetic Ashifashabba was the MC of the evening with entertainment from the well-known Muzo Brothers and Tevin Gadaffi the Poet Maiganya, and guest artist, Arthur Mafokate, among others.
As Onicca prepared the vegetable soup starter and the delectable stir fry, guests were treated to performances from the entertainers who even peformed a tribute to the late artist, actor, and icon, Joe Mafela.

Onicca told guests about her own past and how having a child at the age of 17 didn’t keep her from working hard to reach her dreams, all culminating in where she is today.
This past is part of her motivation for helping the less fortunate in the community to stay motivated to reach their dreams.
After the event, Onicca announced they managed to raise R150 000 for those in need, a feat, she said, would not have been possible without the support of everyone who bought tickets and pledged their support. “I thank everyone for making this event and fundraiser such a resounding success. These contributions will go a long way in making an immense difference in the lives of those who have almost lost hope due to their circumstances. Without your generosity, none of this would have been possible,” Onicca said.
