Eagles fly in IEB tests

The Independent Examinations Board (IEB), is a South African independent assessment agency which offers examinations for various client schools, mostly private schools.

POLOKWANE – The IEB, in partnership with the Australian Council for Educational Research (Acer), offers schools the opportunity to write benchmarking tests in English and mathematics from Gr 3 to Gr 10 and in science from Gr 3 to Gr 8.

Several learners from Eagle’s Nest Christian School wrote these exams in October last year. Three of ENCS’ learners performed exceptionally well in their benchmark exams and were rewarded with certificates of recognition for their achievements. These learners are Karabo Maake (now in Gr 7), Boikanyo Mohlake (now in Gr 4), and Zhak Maloney (now in Gr 7). Boikanyo received her Gr 3 certificate of distinction in English international benchmark tests. Karabo who wrote the Gr 6 exam received a certificate of distinction in the English benchmark tests. Zhak was awarded with two certificates, one is a Gr 6 certificate of high distinction in the English benchmark tests and a certificate of distinction in the mathematics benchmark tests.

When the Joint Matriculation Board (JMB), as the only assessment body in South Africa to offer examinations for non-racial schools, relinquished its examination function in 1989, several heads at independent schools came together to found the IEB.
